It's Luminaries Time Again!
Yes, time to bring light to Falconbridge in support of the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill with our annual luminary lighting. On December 15th at sundown, join your neighbors in the lighting of the luminaries which will run the entire length of every street in Falconbridge. As was the case last year, your Alliance Board will also be hosting a pot-luck on the same night at the clubhouse.
We’ll join over 40 other neighborhoods lighting luminaries on December 15, in one of the biggest annual fundraisers for the Ronald McDonald House. As you’re considering purchasing luminary kits over the next month, please see Sebastian’s Story: https://rmh-
chapelhill.org/sebastians- story/ Your donation helps families from all cultures and religions.
You’ll start seeing the luminary order forms appear on the mailboxes throughout the neighborhood in the coming days and we are happy to answer your questions as they come up. Here is the quick overview with more detail to follow in the coming weeks.
- First, place your order using the order forms for X # of luminary kits to be placed in front of your home and lit on the 15th
- Secondly, the week-end before the lighting, you’ll pick up your kits at the clubhouse
- Third, on the 15th join your neighbors in lighting of the luminaries and enjoy the beauty that your gift created
Last year we raised just over $5,000 for this wonderful cause and I am hoping we can get to at least $5,500 with your help! Look for more info to follow.
How Luminaries work: Each kit contains 10 candles, 10 plastic cups, ten white paper bags and one large bag of sand. You assemble them by putting a handful of sand in each bag and a candle sitting in the little cup in the sand. We set them along the curb of every street in Falconbridge, about 5-8 feet apart. You can also contribute kits to be used to light the common areas of Falconbridge. We light them at dusk and they provide a magical scene of curving lines of light well into the night.
Where the money goes: All proceeds from sales of the kits goes to the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill and the families of seriously ill or injured children who call the House “home” while undergoing treatment at area hospitals. To order on-line: Please visit this link below for the Falconbridge site and if you wish to make part of your donation for the common areas, you can note on that form to "earmark" what ever amount you wish for the common areas over and above your order. We look forward to wonderful results!Kelly and Shanti Quisenberry
